**Working Days and Hours**:Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, 37.5 hours a week

**Job Summary**

The safety coordinator will be a key conduit between the central safety and risk department and all localities and departments in the organisation. The post-holder will work closely with the clinical quality, operational and corporate teams, and staff atall levels in the organisation.

The safety coordinator will administrate and maintain central governance and risk management systems, providing comprehensive reports and timely information to the safety and risk department as required.

The post holder will make use of best practice review methodology in order to ensure the identification of procedural and system weaknesses within the Trust, with root causes, contributory factors and lessons learned identified, support SMART action plansand for recommendations to be put in place.

They will be advanced users of the risk management system. They will also support clinical quality activity and projects as required and contribute to the delivery of the Safety Enabling Strategy.

The safety coordinator will always champion safe practices.

**Keydutiesandresponsibilities**:

- The post-holder will require to form relationships within the safety and risk department and be able to line manage. The requirement to form relationships with all departments within the organisation is essential, to ensure that safety metrics are embeddedat all levels.
- Gather all information required to conduct detailed reviews and provide objective and accurate conclusions via a formulated report.
- To provide advice and be a resource on safety, risk and quality improvement methodology and delivery to localities.
- To support localities in the delivery of good incident and risk management processes.
- To contribute to the systems and processes that support incident reporting and risk management ensuring compliance with external and legal requirements.
- To work with the relevant departments to ensure that action plans derived from the management of risk or incident reviews are developed with a high level of efficacy.
- Ensure that the Safety Enabling Strategy is fully integrated with all relevant Trust programmes and initiatives.
- Support learning from incident reviews, entered in the risk system or action plans, are completed evidenced and monitored, to assist in providing full assurance that lessons have been learned, to the safety and risk leadership team.
- Champion and promote quality as appropriate, as a key focus within the divisions to improve clinical productivity and effectiveness.
- Contribute to the planning, managing, and monitoring of quality improvement projects and initiatives to achieve a beneficial change to quality and safety in line with the objectives of the department and organisation, aligning with national quality andsafety priorities.
- Support in responding to and resolving conflict between different stakeholders when this arises through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms.
- Be responsible for own personal development to ensure the achievement of own objectives.
- Be able to explain strategy and organisational decisions
