**About the role**:
As a warehouse operative you will be working both alone and as part of a team with efficiency and commitment to complete your work and strive to maintain the business performance targets.

Positive, self-driven people who appreciate working methodically and productively are most suited for this position. Given the amount of ground to traverse in the line of duty and the fast-paced and energetic workplace, it's crucial to make sure you're in a moderate degree of physical condition so you can easily do your duties.

Working in a team, you’re likely to do a variety of jobs in the process, such as taking delivery of goods into a warehouse for sorting, stacking and storage and then eventually picking and packing items for dispatch as they are sent on their way to our high streets, businesses and out-of-town stores.

You’ll be working in overalls and may be required to work in different weather conditions.

**Key responsibilities**:

- General day to day cleaning and sorting stocks
- Picking & Packing
- Assisting with our workshop repairing/servicing drilling equipment
- Checking for damaged or missing items and then sorting stock for storage in the warehouse.
- Taking goods to the appropriate storage space - perhaps using loading and lifting gear for heavy goods, like washing machines.
- Keeping a careful record of the stock on the warehouse management system, so that it can be located quickly.
- Operating a forklift truck to move and rearrange stock and ensure that products are stored safely (especially chemicals and food) and labelled correctly and safely (especially chemicals and food).
- Picking orders using a hand-held scanner from the storage space and bringing them for packing, or to the loading bay for transportation
- With heavy equipment in operation warehouses can be dangerous places, so following workplace health and safety rules will be essential.

**Additional desirable skills include**:

- Previous warehouse experience
- Forklift license (Reach/Counterbalance)
- Computer literacy
- Qualification in warehousing and storage (City & Guilds levels 1,2 or 3)

We are open to people with no experience or skills, school leavers etc.

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
