Kendal, United Kingdom Webrecruit Full time

12 month fixed term contract
Full time
**Grade J**: £23,602 to £25,113

Are you studying towards an RTPI accredited planning degree, or maybe have one already? Would you like to gain Development Management experience in a supportive team working in the Lake District National Park, one of the country’s most spectacular landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage Site? Then this is the opportunity for you.

Working with us
We’re looking for a Student Planner to join us for one year. Based within our friendly Development Management Team at our head office in Kendal, you’ll:

- Grow your knowledge of our policy functions, for example by supporting the preparation of our annual monitoring report.
- Be mentored in your work by a senior team member to ensure you have all the professional support you need to grow, develop and to get the job done.
- Have experienced peers on-hand to provide you with professional guidance and coaching in your work.
- Be included any training and development opportunities that come up.

To make sure you’ve got plenty of support on-hand, this will be a mostly office-based role, but with some opportunities for home-working too.

About you

You must have a full UK driving licence so you can use our pool vehicle fleet to travel around the park for work.

Living
We’re based in the attractive market town of Kendal on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Kendal is a great place to live if you want to be in a lively town with ready access to the outdoors. There are other options for living nearby too, both inside and outside the national park.

The small city of Lancaster is just a 15 minute train journey, or a 30 minute drive from our office. With two universities, Lancaster offers city living, but with the countryside and coast on your doorstep. It’s a place several of our team call home. The seaside town of Morecambe adjoins Lancaster and is also a 30 minute drive away from Kendal.

The small market town of Penrith to the north-east of the national park has excellent amenities and great connections, being on the West Coast Mainline, M6 and A66. It’s about 25 minutes by train to Oxenholme station, or a 40 minute drive from our offices.

And of course if you choose to live in the national park this offers spectacular countryside and access to an outdoor lifestyle as soon as you step outside your door.
