**Girling Jones** are currently seeking **a resident caretaker / maintenance assistant **to work at a private school based in the Brecon Beacons. This role could also suit a plumber with the salary increased for Plumbing qualifications.
Day to Day duties include:
**Security**
- Lock/unlock school buildings and areas
- Undertake regular security checks and identify security risks
- Monitor fire safety equipment and carry out fire drills/fire alarm tests
- Operate and respond to alarm systems where appropriate
- Act as out of hours emergency call out contact to attend to site emergencies when required (for which accommodation is provided)
- To act as steward for school events.
- Provide emergency access to the school site

**Maintenance**
- Undertake appropriate repairs e.g. redecorating and fixing
- Undertake minor/simple repairs e.g. minor plumbing, changing light bulbs, unblocking drains
- To organise and carry out various maintenance duties to ensure that the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises is satisfactory, as per help desk job cards
- To organise and carry out minor improvement work e.g. erecting shelves, notice boards, bookshelves etc.
- Operation and maintenance of heating plant and lighting systems
- Undertake regular site inspections and identify and record repair and maintenance requirements
- Undertake activities to maintain safe and clear external environment e.g. gritting, sweeping of leaves etc.
- Collect and assemble waste for removal
- Undertake emergency & specialist cleaning tasks
- Undertake cleaning duties such as graffiti removal, litter-picking
- Provide emergency access to the school site
- Ensure that pathways and all other external hard surface areas are kept clean, free of litter and weeds and that they are gritted or salted when required during wintry conditions

**Health & Safety**
- Be aware of the health and safety requirements within Estates and the school in general (see (i) Policy and Procedure on: Health, Safety and Welfare Policy Statement and (ii) Health and Safety Organisation documents available on the staff intranet)
- To report to the Estates Manager or action appropriately any concerns relating to health and safety
- Undertake safety checks
- Undertake First-aider training and undertake First Aid duties as appropriate

**Transport & Deliveries**
- To provide transport and delivery service as required
- Driving the school minibuses as required

**General Duties**
- To participate in the school’s staff appraisal system as appropriate
- To take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- To present the best possible image of the school in general, particularly in all contact and communications with the general public, visitors, parents, students, customers, suppliers and all other external organisations.
- To undertake training and staff development as needed and as determined by the school management.
- To undertake such other duties, commensurate with the post, which your managers, or other members of the Senior Management Team may reasonably and occasionally require, including working evenings and covering for absent colleagues

**Benefits to you.**
- £22,000 salary for the resident caretaker
- £27,000 Salary if you haver plumber qualifications and experience
- Accommodation provided ( 2 Bed cottage ) all bills are paid by the school
- Shifts - Week 1. Monday to Friday 7AM - 2PM
- Week 2. Monday to Friday 2PM - 7PM
