The Crofting Commission is a Non-Departmental Public Body governed by a Board of 9 commissioners. With a complement of roughly 70 staff, the Commission’s responsibilities include regulating crofting, supporting the registration of crofts by the Registers of Scotland, promoting and supporting the development of crofting, and advising the Scottish Government on any matters relating to crofting.

The organisation is responsible for the regulation of crofting and maintains a register of crofts. Crofting is a traditional system of smallholdings unique to certain areas of Scotland, particularly the Highlands and Islands. Crofting brings a range of benefits such as sustaining rural communities, supporting biodiversity and low intensity, small scale food production. Crofting is supported by considerable legislation that gives rights to crofters and protects crofting land for the future, in which the Crofting Commission has a pivotal role.

The role is primarily based out of the main Inverness location, Great Glen House. Currently there are elements of home workin, and the role will be open to a hybrid working model moving forward (home working with attendance at the office when it is deemed required)

**This is a part-time role, comprising of 22.2 hours across 3 days however other patterns may be considered.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Line-management of a team of 2 motivated GIS Officers.
- Digitising maps and creating shapefiles on ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
- Working with regulatory team to ensure the collaborative work processes are aligned and optimised.
- Liaising with Registers of Scotland about the mapping data provided to and by RoS, and on how this collaboration can further be optimised going forward.
- Ensuring all spatial data held by the Commission is accurately maintained and managing and updating of geospatial data sets.
- Strategic collaboration with other teams in the Crofting Commission, to support further development of Crofting as a whole.

4. Ability to analyse complex information, present evidence based reports, and give advice in a concise and confident manner.
