We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced **H&S Officer **to join a leading Pharmaceutical Research & Development company in Cambridgeshire.

**The role**:
As the Health and Safety Officer you will ensure all work is carried out to current H&S legislation and make sure all colleagues and customers are not exposed to any health and safety issues.

**Responsibilities**:

- To ensure all activities are covered by Risk Assessments, and that best practices and legislation are followed in relation to CoSHH, the handling of restricted substances (Drug Precursors), and the safe handling of biological material.
- To ensure all incidents and near misses (and unsafe conditions) are investigated, causes understood and effective corrective and preventive actions are put in place.
- To create and carry out a programme of internal inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions and provide evidence of compliance with safety protocols.
- Ensure the consignment of all waste and Dangerous Goods is carried out in a compliant manner.
- Host HSE or related bodies visits.
- Make any statutory reports to regulatory bodies e.g. RIDDOR reports
- Propose annual safety objectives and lead new safety initiatives.

Have experience working in a Health and Safety role within a Pharmaceutical, Chemical or Biotechnology company.

As the Health and Safety Officer you will have previous experience in the H&S for a chemistry or biology laboratory and have a professional Health, Safety and Environmental qualification, such as a NEBOSH general certificate.

You must have experience in investigating incidents and near misses, and have experience in variety of audit and investigational techniques (5 whys, 6M, fishbone diagrams, FMEA/FMECA).
