**Location: Lochgilphead, Campbeltown or Oban, Argyll**
**Contract type: Permanent**
**Hours per week: 21hrs per week**
**to be worked on any day between Monday and Sunday.**
**Salary: £18,724 per annum pro rata (£11,234 per annum at 21hrs per week)**
**We’ve got an opportunity**
The British Red Cross are looking for an experienced driver to join our Independent Living team in Lochgilphead, Campbeltown or Oban. This position will suit someone who is compassionate, caring and is able to support people in need at various stages of their life.
As a Renal Driver you will transport patients safely between their home and place of treatment. You will accompany patients to the ward or clinical areas where their treatment will be carried out.

The Independent Living & Crisis Response service (IL/CR) supports people in the space between hospital and home and responds to the needs of people in crisis following an emergency; maintaining an extensive network of external relationships across health, social care, and emergency services.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you must have following skills and experience:
- Be able to demonstrate an awareness of the safety and wellbeing of passengers
- Understanding of the routine maintenance of vehicles
- An awareness of the road traffic law and health and safety legislation relating to passenger transport
- Manual driving licence (Category D1 is preferred but not essential)
- Aged 21 years or over
- Reasonable level of physical fitness required such that the driver can assist passengers with mobility problems, push wheelchairs up ramps and use moving and handling equipment including (as part of a team) a carry chair to carry / move passengers
