An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified or experience individual to join our team, primarily to be based at the Cellular Immunology department Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, self-motivated individual to join our excellent team.

A good communicator, the successful individual must have an attention to detail, be able to deliver and maintain high standards, deal well with the stresses of working in a busy Cellular Immunology laboratory.

The post holder will carry out a broad range of scientific and technical work within the department at the direction of biomedical scientist staff. The range of tasks will be dependent on the area in which they are deployed.

Other duties will be to prepare solutions and reagents as required following protocols and deal with any spillages of noxious and toxic chemicals and bodily fluids according to standard operating procedures. There is a requirement to transfer reagents/laboratory equipment between locations in the department. Where necessary this will involve the use of appropriate moving and handling equipment.
- Provide a high quality and timely service ensuring all tests are performed efficiently within the assigned time and in accordance with defined protocols
- Carry out a broad range of scientific and technical work within the department at the direction of biomedical scientist staff. The range of tasks will be dependent on the area in which they are deployed
- Assist in maintaining stock levels
- File and retrieve biological material pre and post analysis including the long-term storage of a proportion of samples.
- The safe disposal of biological materials and waste
- Assist BMS staff with audits and raw data collection as directed in line with service needs

The Haematology Department is based across two sites at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the Northern General Hospital.
