**Purpose of Role**:
Supporting the Deeside Operational site with the day-to-day packaging development for commercially viable new products via specific retailer / discounter briefs & innovation project work; from concept all the way through to successful launch.

This is a hands-on role where you will work extremely closely with the Commercial, Technical and Manufacturing team plus the retailers & Business Brand Partners.

To successfully deliver your packaging projects in-line with the Gated NPD Process & Critical Paths, ensuring full and timely communication and collaboration with all areas of the business and the customer.

**This role dimension**:
Dimensions:

- The Packaging technologist will support Deeside working on shared customer briefs
- They must have good working knowledge of printing and forming of filM/Flow wrapping, multipacks & SRP’s
- The must have good working knowledge of keyline cutter guides & creating pallet configurations for SRP’s
- Ideally they will have been exposed to the retailer specification systems & understand how to load the packaging elements onto the specifications.
- Potentially managing their own briefs depending on their level of experience & knowledge.
- Working with the Team to ensure all packaging formats required for the projects are achieved from concept, trial, launch & at end of life of the product.
- The packaging innovation lead in some new areas of NPD - especially in line with retailer targets and the internal business ESG targets
- Is pivotal to ensure that any new product packaging brief follows the correct NPD gate procedure from brief to launch in a timely manner & achieves the stipulated commercial targets.
- Involves short & medium-term prioritisation of workload
- Relies on good interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Is multifunctional both within and external to the Well Being Group.
- May be customer focused depending on their level of experience & knowledge.
- Happy to engage with retailers relating to packaging projects/initiatives
- Good awareness of the OPRL recycling logos/descriptions
- Responsible for Food Safety

**Responsibility and Accountabilities**

The Packaging Technologist is expected to support / manage the development of new and existing packaging projects from concept to launch within the NPD Stage & Gate process. Accountability is held for all associated processes and documentation carried out by both the post holder and the wider team.

**KPIs**
- Support the attainment to the Stage and Gate process of all projects
- Attainment to the customers’ development process
- Help the successful delivery of product launches on time and in full

- Has Good Relationship, Communication/Presentation Skills
