As a Residential Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to residents in our care home. Your primary duties will include:

- To provide children/young people with opportunities to develop a sense of independence, autonomy, and responsibility.
- To assist the young people to develop a sense of identity and positive images of themselves.
- To provide children/young people with a safe supportive, homely, and stimulating environment.
- To positively encourage educational activities of children/young people.
- To develop the skills, knowledge, and expertise necessary in order to respond to the individual and varying needs of the children in the home.
- To encourage the children to build and maintain relationships through positive engagement, coaching and mentoring.
- To ensure that good administrative and professional systems are in operation.
- To maintain good communicative and co-operative relationships with parents, field social workers, consultant staff and others concerned with the welfare of the children/young people.
- To keep detailed records on the day-to-day activities of the children/young people.
- To contribute to the review, assessment, planning meetings and case conferences etc., for children and ensuring that relevant reports (i.e. risk assessment, incident reports, key working sessions etc.) are written and made available to other agencies concerned.
- To ensure that the home provides high standards of cleanliness, care comfort and homeliness.
- To encourage the development of recreational activities both within and outside the home.
- To adopt and participate in the key worker approach in your professional relationship with children and/or young persons in the delivery of services.
- To accept responsibility, whenever applicable, for monies needed to carry out duties with children and/or young persons.
- To undertake sleep-in duties as required by the staff rota.
- To comply with the children’s' Homes Regulations 1991; National Care Standards; The Children’s Act 1989 and other user Care Authorities.
- To be committed to continuous professional development.
- To attend, participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and conferences on behalf of the Open World 2.
- Administering medication and keeping accurate records.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Previous experience in a care setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
- A compassionate and caring nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A relevant qualification in health and social care (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Have an in depth undertaking of the Primary Care Process of Young People daily
- To be able to undertake and evaluate shift planning activities.
- To be able to perform the duties of a Shift Leader/Team Leader as and when necessary.
