**BAT UK IS LOOKING FOR A ANTI ILLICIT TRADE (AIT) FaCT RESEACH SPECIALIST (8-MONTHS FIXED TERM)**

**ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES**
**What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?**
- Expert in Illicit Trade Market Research practices and processes used within BAT.
- Expert for forensic counterfeit analysis and authentication.
- Liaise with internal and external partners, providing expert advice and support as the need arises.
- Identify unauthorised products analysed and reported, covering ALL product types, ALL brands for ALL markets.
**What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?**
Over the past decade BAT has witnessed a vast increase in the number of unauthorised copies of our brands in an ever-increasing number of countries. The Board have been driving AIT initiatives to combat the problems and recognise the massive potential of illicit trade to damage brand integrity, consumer confidence, sales figures and ultimately, profits.
The team also provides authentication analysis and counterfeit identification, forensic analysis, training, and engagement service to the group. The quality of counterfeit BAT products has and continues to increase, making the process of counterfeit identification and analysis more complex.
The scope of the team encompasses every brand and all products that are manufactured by or under the authority of British American Tobacco on a global scale.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR**
Operational/ Professional/ Business
- Workload is managed independently although technical guidance is available if needed.
- Tasks are completed by thorough understanding of principles and concepts.
- Recognised proficiency in Illicit Trade, Market Research and Forensic Analysis methods/processes.
- Provide an accurate, on time authentication and counterfeit identification service to End Markets within BAT as well as external Market Research Agencies.
- Lead Market Research data processing.
- Responsible for system upgrades/improvements relating to Market Research.
- Make connections between unauthorised samples indicating common material sources, production methods and manufacturing sites. Categorise potential sources.
Relationship
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, including a network of key contacts across BAT functions.
- Support End Market teams within BAT through expert advice and the forensic analysis of recovered unauthorised products.
- Provide general administrative support to the AIT FaCT team, including cigarette stock and customs procedures, compliance with document retention policy etc.

**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE**
**Experience Required**
- The job holder should ideally have, a diploma/degree level qualification in Forensic Science and/or have previous experience of material/forensic identification.
- A comprehensive theoretical and practical expert knowledge of component packaging materials and various manufacturing processes associated with them.
- Knowledge of different Market Research processes desirable.
**Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required**
- Provide appropriate supervision & coaching to support others.
- Identify and suggest changes to operating procedures for subsequent approval.
- Maintain awareness of technical developments for business or self-improvement.
- Research, develop and implement new market research tools and techniques.
