To project a positive and friendly image to all patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way.

The post holder will assist in dispensing for each patient as well as a rotation in the preparation, dispensing and sale of prescriptions and ove**r**-the-counter medicines/appliances and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the pharmacy.

**Job Purpose & Duties**
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
- Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
- Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines
- Counselling patients regarding their medicines

**General Duties**
- Participate in continuing education as identified whether personally or by the Pharmacy to maintain a high level of professional knowledge and skills.
- Promote the continuing professional development of yourself and other nurses and healthcare assistants, facilitating a learning culture within the team.
- Offer innovative ways of working and opportunities to facilitate learning.
- Provide medicines information and training to healthcare professionals and admin staff.
- Act as a source of medicines information for all of the practices’ teams and patients (e.g. around doses, side effects, adverse events, possible alternatives e.g. around out of stocks).
- Issuing stock items and prepared prescriptions.
- Checking dispensary items prior to issue.
- Filing prepared prescriptions.
- Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements.
- Processing and bundling prescriptions for the prescription pricing authority.
- Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage.
- Date and rotation of stock.
- Placing and checking stock orders.
- Ensure that drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions.
- Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining the temperature control record/logbook.
- Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that all Pharmacy equipment is kept clean and in good working order and maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions.
- Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the Manager or other team members
