**Job title**: Stables Apprentice

**Report to**: Stables Supervisor / Senior Riding Instructor

**Salary**: National Apprenticeship wage

Full-time, 37.5 hrs/week average

Days of work are normally Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (this may change occasionally)

This scheme is for learners aged 18+ due to appropriate safeguarding measures

**To apply**:
This apprenticeship will be 18 months of training in partnership with Haddon Training who will be the provider of the apprenticeship held at the Equestrian Centre at Calvert Exmoor. Whilst learning, you’ll take part in monthly sessions with your trainer-coach.

Alongside the apprenticeship, you’ll be working in the stables which is part of an activity centre, so the average week is split into two; helping and understanding the structure of centre group sessions three days a week and two days a week helping with regular riding lessons.

You’ll spend time enhancing skills, knowledge and behaviours whilst at work. If required to do so you’ll be supported to develop your maths and English in preparation for your functional skills qualification. You will then be assessed by a final end-point assessment for the overall apprenticeship. Every four months you will practice your tests and assessments in preparation for the final exam.

Throughout the apprenticeship, your knowledge and understanding will be checked through assignments, workbooks, tailored resources and observations.

This role will give you a Level 2 Equine Groom with Riding Pathway Apprenticeship qualification for you to take further in the equine industry.

**Main duties and key responsibilities**:
Helping with horses’ daily care

Bringing in and turning out in the fields

Tacking up and untacking for sessions

Leading horses in centre group activities

Feeding the horses

Assisting riding instructors with riding lessons
