Nursery Cook

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated team player to join Tummyticklers as a Maternity Cover nursery cook

Employment would initially be on a minimum 1 year contract but could extend beyond that dependent on when the current cook returns.

**About the role**

As the Nursery Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving wholesome meals that meet dietary requirements and adhere to food safety standards. Your role will contribute to the wellbeing and development of our children. The role would be working Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm. The position is on a 1-year Maternity cover contract.

**Requirements**:
To be considered for the role of nursery Cook you will:

- Previous experience as a Cook, preferably within a Nursery or similar setting.
- A passion for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children with dietary requirements.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude in a nursery environment.
- Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to undergo the check

**In the role of Nursery Cook, we're ideally looking for someone who has;**
- Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
- A passion for cooking and following the 3 week menu and inputting new ideas and recipes into menu updates.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Experience in a similar role working in a catering environment.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Planning healthy meals, with Management that are nutritious, varied and tasty, taking into account the children's dietary and cultural requirements.
- Taking full responsibility for compliance with all relevant food hygiene and Health & Safety requirements.
- Ensuring that all stock is order and replenished as needed, that food is correctly stored in line with guidance and that stock is rotated and all equipment is kept clean and in good repair.
- Keeping waste to a minimum, ensuring our impact on the environment is as mínimal as it can be, and costs are kept low
- washing of all pots

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Billingham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Chef: 1 year (preferred)
- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)
- Kitchen experience: 1 year (preferred)
