**Job Title**: Part Time Cook

**Responsible to**: General Manager

**Purpose of the Post**: To prepare and serve good quality food.

**Hours**: Part time 25 hours per week (Wednesday to Sunday 9am until 2pm)

**Salary**: £12.25 per hour

**Duration**: Permanent

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Service Delivery**
- Be a positive member of Somewhere to Go and work in close partnership with staff and volunteers
- Training volunteers in the preparation of food where required.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen is maintained.
- Sorting donated food and ensuring the stock is rotated.
- Prepare lunches (2 courses) when required
- Ensure food safety procedures are followed and documented
- Cater for occasional additional events such as Open days, exhibitions, Christmas dinners, cream teas etc when required
- Cater for food allergies, preferences and intolerances in accordance with policies
- Ensure temperatures of fridges and freezers are recorded on a daily basis
- This role will involve the postholder being the only cook on the premises at times

**Staff & Volunteers**
- Provide support and guidance to new staff and to volunteers within the service.
- Work closely with volunteers - promoting a positive and safe environment for them to work in.
- Participate in team working approaches which deliver high quality services to service users.
- Participate in any training necessary to the job role

**Other**
- Work, always, within the Health & Safety and Environmental Health legislation and within safety guidelines.
- Engage actively in own supervision with the General Manager, using annual appraisal to set and agree own performance targets and training needs.
- Work in accordance with the organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy and with all its other policies.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by cleaning communal areas, using personal protective equipment as required.
- Undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
- Charity activities will be shared to enhance organisation understanding.
- Keeping timesheets, TOIL records and overtime records in a clear and accessible manner

**Qualifications**

*Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate Essential

**Knowledge & Skills**

*Good cooking skills & the ability to be creative Essential

with donated food items

*Knowledge of ‘Safer Food, Better Business’

management procedures

*Good verbal and written communication skills

**Experience**

*Team player Essential

*Ability to work unsupervised

*Health and Safety checks and recording
