The shift pattern is 8.30am to 4.30pm.

**ROLE OF DEPARTMENT**: The integration of health and social care is providing an opportunity to create a structured, coordinated and strategic approach to community support for people living with dementia. Connecting People, Connecting Support provides health and social care partnerships with a framework for restructuring and integrating the contribution of allied health professionals (AHPs) to dementia care so that these professionals are working to greatest effect. Dementia has been a priority for the Scottish Government since 2007, and very much remains so. Scotland’s fourth national dementia strategy was published in July 2023 and builds on the significant progress in many aspects of dementia care and support we have seen in Scotland. JOB PURPOSE: The post holder will provide professional AHP leadership, strategic direction and expert leadership on all aspects of AHP clinical practice and care of people with Dementia across the AHP patient pathway in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. They will have a specific remit to work with AHPs across all sectors to improve the support they provide to people with dementia and their carers. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries, in partnership and in collaboration with others including service users, carers, health professionals, social work, voluntary sector staff, and local education providers. The post holder will focus upon and lead the work around Connecting People Connecting Support and ensure the completion of the following locally: Lived Experience. Engagement with people with lived experience to review the impact of CPCS to their own experience of AHP’s locally holding a range of “listening” sessions in a range of settings. Promoting Excellence. A local scope of the skills of the AHP workforce from across both health and social care as mapped to Promoting Excellence. From this a local baseline measure and action plan would be developed. Local context. The development of local engagement events, integrating appreciative inquiry and review current delivery of ambitions in CPCS. From this a local and/ or national baseline measure and action plan would be developed and refocus delivery.

Responsible for developing and delivering an education plan in response to the baseline results. The results of these baseline surveys will form the development of an AHP action plan to support the delivery of the 4 ambitions in Connecting People, Connecting Support to meet local population need and local dementia strategies. Contribute to the development of local and national improvement activity related to Connecting People, Connecting Support. This will include the development and reporting of measures, identifying and supporting test sites and supporting the recording of improvement activity. Will work with the Director of AHPs to provide regular reports for use by both Alzheimer Scotland and where necessary the Scottish Government. Support the implementation of local and national Dementia policy and strategy, best practice guidelines and clinical excellence. Play a key leadership role in the facilitation of local dementia forums and networks, to ensure strong working relationships and the active voice of people living with dementia and carers. Professional clinical knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by diploma level specialist training, management qualification or equivalent and experience.

**KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB**: Knowledge and Professional Training: Professional qualification to at least first-degree level within AHP professions or equivalent. Supplemented by management qualification or equivalent experience Current AHP registration with associated regulatory body. Previous experience of working at a senior level. Highly developed specialist knowledge in dementia. High level of competence and excellence in professional leadership, expert practice, strategic planning/service development, education and training, and research and development. Have detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, national and local strategy. Evidence of continuing professional development. Understanding of methodologies used in service improvement. Experience: Extensive clinical experience in the care and treatment of people with dementia. Experience of specialist interventions in the assessment and management of people with dementia.
