Role
The Mill Cafe at Sterling Furniture are looking for a skilled cook or kitchen assistant to add to our team to prepare delicious meals according to menu. You will cook dishes that will delight customers with their taste and timely delivery. You will be able to follow instructions in cooking and deliver well-prepared meals and baking. Full time and part time considered - sociable cafe hours.

**Responsibilities**:

- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Cook food using various cookers, grillers etc.
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
- Proven experience as a cook or in training to be a cook preferred
- Consideration given to those with good home-cooking skills
- Good cooking and baking skills
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team
- High communication skills
- Stamina to work in a fast paced environment
- Deft in moving around a kitchen and apt in multi-tasking
