**HGV Driver Trainer**

The postholder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering cost effective training to all drivers, assuring that training is aligned to the Company’s commercial goals with a view to reducing accidents and damage, whilst improving driver safety and efficiency.

The Driver Trainer role will be responsible for setting a positive example of behaviour within the business, communicating professionally and effectively at all times. This role will be charged with improving driver behaviour and standards in all areas of their roles.

The post holder will also play a key part in the recruitment and induction process, ensuring that all applicants who drive on our behalf meet our standards through an objective and fair driver assessment process. They will also be responsible for coordinating and carrying out the driver induction process, ensuring all new drivers are fully trained on KB Event’s systems, processes and standards - in terms of behaviour, safety, compliance, accident reporting and all other operational areas. This will involve making sure that all documentation is up to date, accurate and securely stored (on Breathe) and working closely with the Compliance Manager to annually review all processes & procedure to ensure legislative compliance throughout.

Operational hours are between 9am - 6pm, some earlier starts and later finish times may be required dependant on the workload requirements.

Salary up to £45,000.00 per annum, dependant on experience.

**Roles & Responsibilities**
- To ensure that prospective drivers and applicants are effectively and comprehensively assessed against objective criteria and provide complete reports to document this.
- To deliver training to new and existing drivers across a wide range of topics to include compliance, EU drivers’ hours, tachographs, coupling and uncoupling, telematics, fuel management, safe loading and a whole host of areas as needed by the Transport Operations team.
- To conduct the annual training refresher sessions to all existing drivers, incorporating any new training that may be required due to legislative changes.
- To liaise with the Compliance Manager to annually review the company processes and procedures to ensure full compliance and roll out any necessary training to drivers.
- To provide one-to-one support for specific drivers when bespoke training needs have been identified - possibly as a result of a performance issue, accident or damage.
- To coach, develop and mentor all drivers and colleagues to ensure that standards are continually being met and exceeded.
- To lead induction training sessions covering task and behavioural based areas
- To produce clear training plans for drivers, detailing the minimum levels of training that all drivers must complete on either a one off, or routine basis.
- To educate all drivers and Lead Drivers in all areas of compliance in order to actively protect the Company’s Operator Licence
- To ensure that any vehicle driven for training purposes is roadworthy, in a great state of cleanliness and repair.
- To have responsibility for ensuring all drivers understand how loads are safely secured and stored to minimise damage or movement.
- To maintain accurate and up to date training records for all drivers, that are securely stored and effectively organised by way of a training matrix.
- To effectively monitor vehicle/driver performance and implement necessary training to improve efficient driving practices.
- To act as a role model at all times, and as a positive representative of the Company through having high personal standards, a professional but welcoming approach and consistency in all activities
- To immediately manage any risks involving the safety of other drivers or equipment and to report these to the Transport Operations Manager, in a timely manner.
- To maintain the highest levels of Health & Safety training, reporting and record keeping and act as a role model in this regard
- To ensure all drivers comply with Drivers’ Hours regulations and express explicit expectations and effective training to ensure this.
- To undertake training on the how to drive in a fuel-efficient manner and how to interpret the telematics to improve this, with a view to improved cost control across the fleet.
- To support in post-accident investigations, damage recording and continuous improvement activities
- To challenge, address and report any inappropriate conduct including inappropriate comments, unsuitable behaviour, and unprofessional conduct.
- To ensure all drivers behave in a non-discriminatory way that reflects the Company values.
- To adhere to all risk assessments, safe operating procedures, policies, and standards at all times
- To liaise with the Compliance Manager to investigation and account for all missing mileage.
