Grampian Region, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their waste water.

But Scottish Water does. Frankly, it’s all we think about.

Join our Water Field Response team in the Grampian North area and as a Network Service Operator you’ll help our teams make sure Scotland has a constant supply of safe, high-quality water.

What you’ll do

Problem-solver extraordinaire, you’ll make quick, accurate work of customer enquiries and network operations - helping fix any water supply and waste water problems. That might include turning your hand to valve shut-offs, identifying bursts, maintaining pumping stations, and more.

No two days are quite the same, you will work in a fast-paced customer centric environment that is very dynamic and rewarding. You’ll also make sure tasks are completed safely, engage with internal stakeholders to resolve complex customer or network issues and provide excellent service to our customers.

You’ll collect relevant data, report on customer issues and promote follow on work to recover service issues, technical requirements, GIS drawing updates, and so on. You’ll know your byelaws from your codes of practice, so you can explain what’s what to customers.

Now and then you’ll carry out sampling on new mains, bursts, or customer complaints to make sure every last drop is compliant with regulatory requirements.

What you’ll bring

You’ll know how the water network operates - bringing knowledge of DOMS policies, reviewing risk assessment method statements, hygiene code, and access and transfer certificates.

You’ll always have your health and safety hat on to keep the team and customers safe. Top-notch communication skills are essential too - our customers will turn to you for the information they need.

You’ll need a valid driving licence, but we’ll provide the wheels. As part of the team, you’ll take your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours work too.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), and life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

The salary range for this role is £24,741 - £35,566 (depending on skills and experience).

There is a requirement to participate on an out of hours standby rota.
