Junior Buyer

We have the need for a driven and curious Junior Buyer to complement our buying department in Altham, Blackburn.

**BASIC SALARY**: £25,000 -£30,000

**JOB DESCRIPTION**: Junior Buyer, Assistant Buyer - Procurement, Purchasing
Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you’ll be a key member of the team and will be instrumental in cultivating and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You’ll get to know the key suppliers across the globe and play an important role in negotiating rates and contracts.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**: Junior Buyer, Assistant Buyer - Procurement, Purchasing
- Control a spend of c £500k across the transport network.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers throughout the UK, Europe, China, Indonesia and Taiwan.
- Review current suppliers and reduce rates where possible.
- Work closely with the senior Buyer to assist internal teams; Maintenance, Production & Quality to ensure a balance between suppliers’ availability and needs of the business.

Most likely your background will include:

- Worked within Manufacturing / Distribution / Supply
- Any experience with transport or freight forwarding would be an advantage.
- Experience of an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. We use SAP.
- Exposure to negotiating rates and contracts.
- Relationship management / development.
