Environmental Investigation Lead

**Salary**:We are offering a competitive** **salary dependent on experience. **Base Location**:The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement, although there is an expectation that 50% of your time will be visiting operational sites from across the Yorkshire region. Please note the site you will be based at, will be determined by your home location. A full UK driving license (with no more than 6 points) is an essential requirement of this role, with the ability to travel between sites.
**Purpose of the role**
We currently have an opportunity for an **Environmental Investigation Lead **within the Wastewater function. This role will undertake the companies’ investigations relating to watercourses with an RNAG status associated to Yorkshire Water, liaising with the regulator to ensure positive outcomes for the company and customers, and compliance with regulatory targets.
Developing learning from the programme to scope and drive forward our future AMP 8 submissions.
**Key accountabilities specific to the role**:
**Some of the key responsibilities you will have will include but are not limited to**:
- Leading RNAG driven investigations including:
- Supporting the Spills and Overflows programme for delivery of projects
- To identify opportunities for research and research supervision to benefit Yorkshire water customers and deliver efficient outcomes.
- Act as the Expert Client to ensure that the Overflow reduction programme achieves compliance and delivers maximum benefit.
- Contribute to the YWS submission relating to River Health
- To drive the YWS river Health strategy
- Ensure that the Company maintains and develops relationships with key Regulators/ NGOs
- Provide advice to the business on the impact of new, changed, and existing environmental legislation, where a precedent does not already exist.
- Manage and coordinate supporting roles.
- Manage consultation with stakeholders on schemes and manage conflicting aspirations to ensure the successful delivery of regulatory obligations.
- Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
- A proven track record of delivering performance measures.
- Broad knowledge of water industry service provision and how operations and asset management support service delivery
- Previous experience and knowledge of business process and operation within a regulated company and an understanding of the regulatory framework
- Great communicator at all levels both internal and external.
- Able to influence at all levels within the business to ensure a” Win, Win” outcome.
- Project management: Proven ability to project manage the implementation of business priority projects.
- Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
- Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
- Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
- Demonstrates Health and Safety values.
- Ability to work in a team and under you own Initiative. Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
**Knowledge and Skills Required**
- Experience of influencing at a senior level (Director level / Head of department / General Manager level)
- Degree level technical qualification or successful track record within in an equivalent technical position at leadership level.
- Ability to write, interpret and sign off technical papers for the business.
- Technical expertise in all aspects of Wastewater regulation
- A proven record of delivering sustained performance across the wastewater business.
- Previous experience and knowledge of business process and operation within a regulated company and an understanding of the regulatory framework
- Knowledge and experience of Risk Management
- Strong people leader experienced in managing technical teams and driving change.
- Highly developed coaching approach to managing people.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Good analytical skills, can compile, assess, interpretate and communicate data.
