Job/Person Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Head of School following the successful tenure of the interim headteacher.

Releasing Potential is a unique independent special school which caters for students aged 11-18 with social, emotional and mental health needs. We serve the local authorities of Hampshire and West Sussex. As part of the Releasing Potential charity, we offer experienced support to the Head of School as part of a growing team.

Governors are seeking an experienced, inspirational, and highly professional leader with the energy, drive and commitment to work with the Proprietor to contribute to a strategic view for the school in its community and analyse and plan for its future needs and further development within the local, national and international context.

Our new Head of School will demonstrate high standards of personal integrity, loyalty, discretion and professionalism and have experience of working with vulnerable children.

**We are looking for someone who**:

- Ensures a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all students can achieve success and become engaged in their own learning
- Implement strategies which secure high standards of behaviour and attendance
- Is able to take a lead role in working with other leaders to support, challenge and monitor the development, delivery and evaluation of an inspiring, broad and balanced curriculum with an emphasis on learning outdoors
- Is responsible for the teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring and leadership that secures and sustains high expectations, outcomes and excellent practice throughout the whole school
- Understands and can articulate the importance of systematic, regular, and accurate assessment and its importance in securing good outcomes for all children
- Is able to undertake self-evaluation and school improvement planning
- Innovates to improve the quality of the curriculum offer to address social disadvantage and fully meet the needs of students
- Understands the importance and need of a safeguarding culture, where everyone understands their roles and responsibilities
- Continues to strengthen the school collaboration and develop effective partnerships that enhance student achievement and staff development
- Understand how the engagement with nature can positively impact a child’s development
