**Overview**
**General purpose of role**
The Starter/Marshal is responsible for the orderly and timely movement of tee times which will help ensure and control an effective pace of play. By acting as a meet and greeter for visitors, they may also help with ensuring the golf course policies and dress code are followed. Monitor and assist the pace of play on the course to help further ensure a first-class experience for members, guests and visitors at Royal Ascot GC.
**Responsibilities**
- Interact with golfers in a friendly, helpful manner.
- Check players names against the tee sheet as recorded in club V1 for the day, maintain a list of ‘no shows’ and refer any members guests or visitors who have not prepaid to the golf pro shop.
- Provide players with RAGC score cards if they require them.
- Responsible for informing players of course conditions and any temporary local rules as well as ensuring any restrictions are followed.
- Keep tee times moving on time and in an orderly manner. Unless there is any leeway available in the booked tee times, the starter should not permit anyone to tee off who has missed their tee time.
- Monitors speed of play and ensure that everyone meets the Pace of Play Policy
- Liaise with the professional team as necessary regarding and pace of play issues, delays to starting times or people on the course who haven’t been signed in by the professional team.
- Report any abusive or inexcusable behaviour from members or guests to the office.
- Inform all players using buggies of the need to stay to the paths and rough wherever possible. Remind players to avoid all wet areas; closely mown aprons and areas around the greens. When appropriate also advise those using trollies of areas that should be avoided.
- During competitions or if wishing to submit general play cards, remind players of the signing in procedures. Competition cards are obtained from the pro shop.
- Responsible for maintaining a reasonable pace of play on the golf course and to address any groups who appear to be falling behind pace or are holding up groups behind to speed up or to let faster players through.
- Monitor tee boxes and general course conditions and cleanliness.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance.
- Avoid conflict with golfers, but if support is required, please liaise with the professional team and/or the office team.

**Salary**: £12.00 p/h, based on 16 - 20 hours a week

**Education**:
- A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
**Experience**:
- customer service: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
