Discovery is seeking energetic and passionate Support Workers to make a meaningful difference to the lady and 3 gentlemen we support, by empowering their independence and supporting them to lead fulfilled lives.

The people we support are aged between their 30's and 50's and have learning disabilities and/or autism. They live in a purpose-built residential care home set in beautiful gardens close to the centre of Yeovil. They are happy to have support from people who are brand new to Support Work as well as those with prior experience, they are also happy to have mixture of full and part-time Support Workers.

The type of people they would like to support them will be happy to get involved with activities including:

- Going to Nine Springs Park for walks, to feed the ducks and (weather permitting) picnics.
- Spending time in their sensory room which has lots of fun things including a ball pit, sensory lights, and a host of musical instruments.
- Getting involved in LOTS of cooking and baking - food goes down well here
- Trips to the theatre and concerts - we recently went to see Boyzlife at Westlands
- Visiting the cinema
- Seasonal activities, we have a trip planned to the Northern Lights in Weymouth soon

The people we support wanted us to tell you that some of them don't use words to communicate but that they can talk to you using pictures and objects. If you don't know how to communicate that way, it's fine, Discovery will teach you.

They also want you to know that just because they use wheelchairs to be mobile, it doesn't stop them getting 'out-out' and they're hoping their new Support Workers can come up with a trip that is EVEN BETTER than their recent day out at Haynes Motor Museum.

Support Workers will also support these 4 people by assisting with day-to-day tasks (which include - but are not limited to - finances, shopping, cooking & personal care)
