Audit & Assurance Quality Monitoring Lead - Director

The Audit & Assurance Quality Monitoring team is responsible for managing and executing the firm's programme of ‘cold' file reviews of completed audit and assurance engagements.

The objective of the team is to safeguard, monitor and promote audit and assurance quality.The team reviews audit and assurance engagements and monitors if they are compliant with auditing and ethical standards, the firm's methodology and related riskmanagement policies and procedures and other requirements as applicable.

**The Role**

The Audit & Assurance Quality Monitoring Lead (reporting to the Partner Responsible for Quality Monitoring) manages the Audit & Assurance Quality Monitoring team. This includes a small, full time dedicated team of reviewers and a wider team of between tenand 15 senior managers, directors, and partners from the audit service line.

As the Audit & Assurance Quality Monitoring Lead, you will lead a team that forms an integral part of the firm's risk management framework. You will contribute to safeguarding and promoting quality, provide valuable insights to engagement teams on good practiceand areas for development when delivering audit and assurance engagements, and ensure the firm delivers its monitoring plans and complies with its regulatory responsibilities.

This is a high-profile and highly visible role in the firm with direct exposure to the firm's leadership, and a role that contributes significantly to the continuous improvement in the quality of the firm's audit and assurance work.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Developing and managing the delivery of the annual audit and assurance quality monitoring plan, including the development of new approaches and strategies.
- Managing the Audit & Assurance Quality Monitoring team.
- Ensuring the quality of the reviews performed by the team, and chairing meetings with engagement partners and audit teams to discuss findings.
- Scoping and overseeing thematic reviews of discrete audit and assurance areas, to identify best practice examples and areas where firmwide actions are needed to drive quality.
- Reporting regularly to the Audit Executive on progress against plan and on themes arising from cold reviews.
- Meeting with the firm's regulators on matters concerning internal quality monitoring.
- Working with other teams in the firm, including the Root Cause Analysis team and Audit Quality Indicators team, on ad hoc projects and discrete work streams.
- Managing the firm's Mentor programme for new Responsible Individuals and Key Audit Partners.

**The Person**

We are seeking a Director with UK audit experience and recent experience working in a quality-focused role in practice or in an audit regulatory environment, with the following skills and attributes:

- ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualification.
- A passion for quality and coaching engagement teams to develop their knowledge and audit and assurance skills.
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing, ethical, and accounting standards, including FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Excellent analytical skills that enable you to evaluate potentially complex audit and accounting issues to identify what is important (the “big picture”) to evaluate and conclude on the quality of audit and assurance engagements.
- The ability and willingness to challenge and influence more senior individuals and peers.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience of report writing for multiple audiences.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple work commitments, and to meet targets and deadlines.
- Experience of performing ‘hot' or ‘cold' engagement file reviews.
- Experience of assurance engagements is desirable, but not essential.
