ANPR Operator

Location: Fulford Road, York

**Salary**: Scale 4 £21837 - £24,156

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Hub based within the Force Control Room will monitor and utilise the ANPR system both locally and nationally as well as control and co-ordinate Operations police resources across the county of North Yorkshire. This includes monitoring live time intelligence information and deploying appropriate resources as well as managing a range of incidents and where appropriate providing an emergency response.

In this fast-paced exciting and rewarding role, you will have responsibility for operating, monitoring and researching the Force’s ANPR system and direct relevant resources to stop vehicles, providing Police Officers with relevant and timely information. In order to deploy resources, the role will include managing a dedicated Operations radio channel, which will also require coordinating the attendance of resources and other emergency services at incident scenes. This role requires you to juggle information and prioritise demand at a very high level.

In the ANPR Hub you will not only identify and support live time activations and deployments but there will also be the opportunity to research the system and provide tasking and briefing products for dedicated resources.

If successful in post you will firstly be trained to the level of a Communications Officer Controller attending the relevant training courses and tutorship. You will receive a high level of training on the ANPR system and become an experienced user.

Essential skills required for the role are:

- Excellent verbal communication skills enabling you to communicate with both internal and external customers and deal assertively and courteously whilst managing expectations.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent IT skills, systems knowledge and typing skills.
- The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, to highlight risks, priorities issues, to take control and respond promptly to changing situations, to prioritise and risk assess in a fast-time environment
- Ability to identify key decision points and make decisions to meet the business process requirements
- The ability to work both effectively as part of a team and to work unsupervised, using your own initiative to solve problems, taking reasoned and responsible decisions that consider all the relevant factors and information, based on Force policy and best practice.
