**Derwent Lodge Nursing Home** is looking for a Cook to work in our care home who is efficiently works within a commercial or institutional catering environment.

**Cook Specification**:
Menu planning and control, Food purchasing and supplies, Management and supervision of kitchen staff, Health and safety and quality control

Carrying out duties at all times in a manner which has appropriate regard to the health, safety and welfare of both themselves and others and reports any equipment that is, or is thought to be, not in good working order

To monitor and ensure that food preparation and delivery is undertaken within a clean and safe environment at all times

Being conversant with and following key Home policies, e.g. Health and Safety, COSHH, Food Hygiene etc.

To promote the food service as a key contributor to determining the Home’s reputation and attractiveness

**Work Experience**:

- A recognised and appropriate qualification in food preparation/cooking, at least to NVQ level 2
- Basic certificate in Food hygiene.
- At Least 1 year’s experience in commercial or institutional catering, providing varied menu..
- Conversant with Environmental Health and Health and Safety regulations/legislation etc. governing the preparation, storage and cooking of food.
- Satisfactory DBS
