Senior Infrastructure Engineer

**Department**: Managed Services, Technical Management
**Reports To**: Technical Manager

General Summary

The SE-INF will be responsible for all end user computing technologies including endpoint devices, deployment platforms, management solutions, encryption solutions and security solutions.

Essential

**Responsibilities**:

- Taking ownership of and fulfilling the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all assigned technologies;
- Managing the full lifecycle for all assigned technologies including updates, security releases, commissioning and decommissioning;
- Supporting the infrastructure to ensure systems are stable and operating within established performance thresholds;
- Performing regular preventative maintenance tasks;
- Performing regular security, health and compliance checks;
- Performing pro-active capacity management and planning activities;
- Assisting developing and testing new technical solutions to be included in the Company’s services portfolio;
- Assisting developing best practice documentation, installation documentation and training material for the new solutions;
- Assisting the Infrastructure and Applications Management teams with incident diagnosis and fault resolution;
- Participating in client presentations and pre-sales activities where required;
- Working with and advising the Sales teams with the preparation of bids;
- Working with the Project Delivery teams to implement the services required by clients;
- Participating in Problem Management activities to determine root causes of incidents and developing work-around and permanent resolutions;
- Participating in Change Management activities to ensure change requests are fulfilled according to company guidelines;
- Participating in Knowledge Base management to ensure the accuracy and relevance of submitted articles;
- Providing comprehensive support and end user documentation for existing environments and project implementations to improve support team knowledge and the end user experience;
- Managing and maintaining Service Portfolio documentation;
- Ensuring all policies, standards and processes are adhered to.

**Responsibilities**:

- Business awareness - specific knowledge of the client and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals;
- Deploying all technologies in strict accordance with the company’s agreed best practices and the project management framework at all times;
- Maintaining skill levels and certifications in designated technologies to the highest standard, through a combination of self-study, company provided training and external courses;
- Reviewing IT publications and online materials to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry;
- Continually seeking opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships;
- Understanding processes in the company’s tools by completing assigned training materials;
- Entering high quality notes for all work undertaken in the ITSM tool;
- Being responsible for entering time and expenses in the ITSM tool as they occur;
- Participating in "on-call" out-of-hours emergency support cover.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to excel at each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

The **SE-INF** must meet all of the following requirements:

- A minimum of 3 years working as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer;
- A minimum of two years working with Microsoft Azure environments;
- Extensive experience of Azure deployment and management;
- Extensive experience of Azure compute, storage, networking and security;
- Extensive experience of Windows Server 2012, 2016 and 2019;
- Extensive experience of storage technologies including SAN and iSCSI;
- Strong experience in replication including SAN and Hypervisor;
- Strong experience of MFA, SSO and Identity Management;
- Strong experience of network services including VLAN, DNS, DHCP and routing;
- Strong experience of file storage including DFS, DFSR and deduplication;
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.

It is desirable the **SE-INF** will also have experience in:

- HPE ProLiant servers including rack, blade and tower;
- HPE Storage platforms including Simplivity, MSA and Nimble;
- HPE Aruba networking solutions;
- Virtualisation, RDSH and VDI technologies, especially Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD);
- Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Batch or VBScript.

The **SE-INF** must hold the following certifications:

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate; OR
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

The **SE-INF** must also hold a minimum of two additional technical and/or professional qualifications including:

- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate;
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
- Microsoft MCSA;
- Microsoft MCSE;
- Cisco CCNA;
- Citrix CCAA, CCEE or CCIA;
- VMware VCP;
- ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation;
- Prince2 Foundation.
