London, United Kingdom Financial Conduct Authority Full time

Project Support Associate

Financial Conduct Authority - Permanent, Full-Time

Background

Do you want a job where you can make a real difference? There are few jobs where you can do this for 40 million consumers of financial products, 2 million people who work in the UK Financial Services industry, and the stability of our economy.

The FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) has three main aims:
- Stop & prevent the most serious harm- Set & test higher standards- Promote competition and positive change.

As part of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Division, we are leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation.

In Intelligence and Digital, a subdivision of DTI, we believe in doing things differently.

We believe in collaboration, inclusivity, innovation and using data to be at our best. We place emphasis on curiosity and experimentation. We collaborate widely with other regulators, academics, innovative companies, and within the FCA.

Data is an essential ingredient to delivering effective regulation, so we treat our data as an asset and have built services to ensure we can make best use of it.

Our Data and Data Strategy Services department drives the

FCA’s Data Strategy
- We increase the value of data through promoting data use, improving collections, ensuring data returns compliance, data management and good governance. Our analysis activities and central co-ordination of all data-related activities is essential to FCA regulation being data driven.

Importantly, we believe that people need space to learn and grow and we supply supporting learning programmes and opportunities for all staff.

In our culturally diverse team, everyone is encouraged to be part of the team and put their ideas forward. We strongly value, encourage and support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?

Data is an asset used by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and our partners to support regulatory activities. It directly supports our work to prevent consumer harm. But also helps other organisations, regulators, and Government institutions in achieving outcomes. These outcomes protect consumers, deliver competitive outcomes, and find efficiencies in how we deliver and regulate financial services.

In this role, you will work within our growing Data Strategy Service with ambitious plans, for delivering data and data outcomes to the hands of users.

You will report to the Data Front Door Lead / or the Data Enablement Manager and engage with a variety of stakeholders across the FCA helping to manage requests for support with data projects and outcomes. This will improve visibility of the demand for support from the Digital Technology & Intelligence Division.

Managing the demand for support will allow us to have improved oversight of data support demands flowing within and outside of the FCA. This will help us understand how to better manage and utilise our data assets where we can and manage our resources to support the right outcomes at the right time.

When our supply and demand for support is more visible, we’ll be able to make more use the resources and information we gain in ways we have never been able to before, and we will be able to manage any unseen risks. So, this is a chance to make a real difference within this role.

You will handle, organise, plan, and work with your colleagues and manager to manage the Data Front Door and Triage service.

Your administration skills will help us manage and run the service effectively. You will be able to learn how to use and improve the processes created to improve our data services and data resources availability. This will help ensure that we maximise the use of data and data resources.

If you have skills in managing an in-box service, diary management, record keeping and coordination skills these are most important as you will organise a group of people from various departments and teams who attend triage meetings, to help support their decisions making. As you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaboration, and communications skills are also important. If you have good data, presentation and reporting skills this would be an advantage.

You will be a team player who is a key part of our Data Enablement Team.

The goal is to ensure that we have a fully managed Data Front Door Triage Service that can manage demand for support from Digital Technology and Innovation teams by other areas across the FCA.

Main Responsibilities:
- Managing the requests that are added to the Data Front Door form- Gathering data and information as required to ensure the Data Front Door forms are completed- Using excel and other methods to gain basic management information to inform on the stock and flow of requests- Support the Triage Forum meetings to ensure that all agendas, notes and records of actions and decisions are made- Work with the Data Front Door
