New Urology Unit
The new urology centre - based in the existing Treatment Centre on the main hospital site has now opened to its first patients. The centre can carry out blood and urine tests, ultrasound and urine flow tests, cystoscopy examinations, and consultant appointments, often all on the same day. When the service is fully up-to-speed it will mean the number of times patients have to visit the hospital for tests will reduce from as many as five or more down to one or two.
Consisting of three consulting rooms, three procedures rooms, a recovery room, ultrasound room, wellbeing room and two offices, the new centre means the number of different places patients need to go to for urology treatments in the hospital goes down from nine to three.
The Trust Grade will be responsible for the daily management and general urological care of all patients admitted under the appropriate Consultant, supervising and teaching the junior staff.
To attend ward rounds, operating lists and assist in outpatient clinics.
Annual and Study Leave is with prior arrangement and there is internal prospective cover on each surgical firm.
To attend local induction on commencement of duty in a new department or if working has not been undertaken in the Department in the previous 6 months.
ROTA
The rota is a 7 person shift system.
In emergencies and exceptional circumstances the Trust Grade will be expected to provide cover for the absences of colleagues, provided the resulting increase in workload is reasonable in the circumstances. Whilst the Trust Grade will be expected to prospectively cover Registrar colleagues in the normal run of his/her duties within his/her contract, work outside contracted hours performed under these circumstances will be payable at standard duties.
