**Role**: Mechanical Fitter
**Salary**: £29,203 per annum

Reed are proud to be working with a highly specialised manufacturing business in their search for a Mechanical Fitter to assist in basic maintenance and product finishing

You will be involved in the assembly of various mechanical componentry, from steel fabrications to hydraulic pumps. Your main tasks will involve measuring, drilling and fitting components to fabrications to drawing specifications, and making and fittinghydraulic hoses to suit vehicles/machines. Some prior experience using lathes and milling machines would be a benefit but is not essential. You would be expected to maintain a high standard of cleanliness around the workshop, and on the machines, in the areasyou have been working. Quality finishing of fitted components is expected. **Duties**
- Working in a manufacturing environment which includes steel preparation i.e. Cutting, punching, bending, drilling and tapping, grinding.
- Cutting may be either by band saw or guillotine, or angle grinder.
- Punching holes and slots using a metal worker machine tool.
- Using pedestal drilling machines to drill and tap holes.
- Using press brake to bend/fold steel.
- Using hand tools and measuring equipment to mark out jobs prior to cutting, drilling etc.
- Fitting of steel and plastic parts used to build complicated machines.
- Fitting will include the installation of hydraulic or electrical drive motors, chains and bearings.
- The making and installation of hydraulic hoses.
- The fitting of nylon pads using shims.
- Use of measuring equipment i.e. steel rule, tape measure, Vernier calliper and micrometer etc.

**Required skills**:

- The assembly process involves the use of overhead cranes and slings.
- The assembly process involves the use of Forklift trucks.
- You would be expected to have and be prepared to use basic tools of the trade, i.e. spanners and hand tools.
