**Job summary**:
This is new, busy and exciting role in a fast-moving operational Headquarters working alongside the military to facilitate the delivery of online media and wider communication messaging of the UK's overseas operations.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week

**Job description**:
The post holder will be part of a team of five and responsible for coordinating, commissioning and publishing operational social media output across both PJHQ and wider Defence social media feeds to a range of national and international audiences.

Additionally, the role will provide administrative support for a range of media related and more general office functions and act as a central point of contact for PJHQ’s input to MOD’s Directorate of Defence Communication campaigns.

The successful applicant will also be required to join the on-call duty roster which requires the post holder to be contactable out of hours and at weekends, for which they will be reimbursed.

You will work closely with the military Joint Effects team, ensuring that social media effects are aligned with operational military strategy, and will have oversight of a growing social media presence.

This is an excellent opportunity to experience how the Civil Service directly supports the military to deliver effective joint operations overseas whilst pioneering the ongoing development of established social media feeds.

Previous experience of working with the military and communications is desirable but not essential to the post.

A Northwood Recruitment and Retention Allowance is payable. This is currently £3000 RRA per annum.

Flexible working, job share and part time arrangements will be considered, provided that fill time cover can be arranged.

**Person specification**:
The successful applicant will have/develop the ability to:

- Work quickly and accurately in a high tempo environment whilst exercising sound judgement;
- Provide administrative support for media operations relating to PJHQ’s global operations.
- Develop and post compelling media content to support PJHQ social media feeds and wider defence communication online feeds.
- Act as a project coordinator for bespoke Directorate of Defence Communication (DDC) and Single Service (sS) media initiatives, ensuring their needs are met.
- Assist with the coordination, clearing and dissemination of Operational and Personal Security cleared imagery to a range of audiences.
- Lead on media overseas travel initiatives ensuring flight and Green Book requirements are met.
- Manage the J9 Media SharePoint area.
- Represent the J9 Media team at meetings when required.
- All J9 media staff share the on-call duty responsibility which, when rostered, requires the post holder to be contactable out-of-hours and at weekends.
