We have an immediate vacancy for the right person to join our team as an **Assistant Production Manager.** If you have what we are looking for, then we would love to hear from you.

This positions report to the Production Manager.


**Job Description

The purpose of this role is to assist and deputize for the Production Manager in their full delivery of the detailed, day-to-day production and customer shop-floor elements of the business operations, responsible for but not solely limited to the following key functions:

- Rostering and micro-management of the shop-floor team, consistently to deliver a customer-focused, cost-conscious and highly effective production process for customers.
- Leadership and inspiration of the production team to achieve the robust delivery of a consistently perfect product for customers, aiming for zero waste and 100% achievement of quality standards.
- Encouraging partnership working and transparency with other departments in the business, adopting a team approach to problem solving.
- Providing constructive challenge to the production team to drive continuous improvement across all areas of their responsibilities, improving quality output, reducing inefficiency and waste.- Oversee the safety management, quality assurance and environmental and sustainability systems and processes on the shop-floor.
- Communicate performance indicators to all members of staff within the Production team and develop plans for continuous improvement. As a minimum these will be communicated at the end of each month and will include performance against Production targets and KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement in the avoidance and management of production downtime by leading multi-disciplinary debriefs after each significant issue.
- Implement and proactively monitor the effectiveness of processes and procedures that encourage staff to admit mistakes rather than conceal them.
- Ensure that other departmental managers receive an update on Production issues at least once per week and participate in resolving issues and improving performance where appropriate.
- Maintenance of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies as appropriate.
- Contribution to the wider team effort by accomplishing related results and providing appropriate support as needed.-
**Essential Characteristics

- Previous experience in a similar role such as Team Leader, Lead Supervisor, or other such middle management experience
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
- Be proactive, dedicated with a positive “can do" attitude
- Enjoy setting exemplary standards and be a people motivator
- Have high levels of concentration and good IT skills with Microsoft Word, Excell and systems databases
- Have a flexible approach and an ability to adapt to changing demands to meet tight production deadlines
- Have effective interpersonal and communication skills
