If so, we are seeking a Lead People Advisor to play a key role in the management and operational delivery of our People Advisory team. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organisational effectiveness and employee relations.

As the Lead People Advisor, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the People Advisory team; providing expert advice and supporting management on a variety of HR issues - ensuring all team activities align with strategic goals and service level agreements. You’ll guide the team through employee relations, performance management and compliance to employment laws, making certain that managers are equipped to hand their HR responsibilities.
- You’ set the example for maintaining exemplary service delivery, monitoring team performance and developing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This involve regular performance reviews, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and driving initiatives that improve the overall function of the People service.
- Your role ill also involve stakeholder engagement, requiring you to build and sustain strong relationships within Northern and with external partners. By working closely with the wider People team and senior management, you’ll ensure the People Advisory team aligns and maintains a proactive approach to managing HR challenges. What you do, will enhance our HR capabilities and contribute to Northerns reputation as being a leader in employee satisfaction and operational excellence.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Lead the People Advisory team, ensuring efficient operation and exceptional service delivery.
- Provide guidance and support on complex people management cases to minimize risk and enhance workplace relations.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with management teams, offering proactive support and advice on HR policies and practices.
- Oversee the internal audit of people case advice and controls, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

**About you**:

- You are a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage HR advisory services within a large, complex organization. Your leadership skills and deep understanding of HR practices will drive the effectiveness of our People function.
- We’re also looking for the following:

- Essential:

- Strong experience in HR management within a unionized environment.
- Ability to lead and develop a team, ensuring high standards of performance and professional growth.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Desirable:

- CIPD Level 5 qualification, Level 7 preferred.
- Experience in the transport sector or similar industries is advantageous.
