The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the process of collecting overdue payments from customers. The main duties include:
- Responding to customers’ enquiries about their debts.
- Negotiating with customers and clients to find the best solution for both parties and reduce the risk of bad debts or legal actions.
- Recording and updating customer and client information, payment details, agreements, and correspondence in the database or system.
- Planning the collection programme, preparing and sending invoices, statements, reminders, and notices to customers and clients.
- Working with internal and external parties, including the billing teams, credit controllers, lawyers, and debt collection agencies, to facilitate the debt recovery process.
- Reporting on the status and performance of the debt collections portfolio and identifying any issues or trends that need attention or improvement.
- Following the policies and procedures of the organization and complying with the relevant laws and regulations regarding debt collection.
The Credit Controller should have the following skills and qualifications:
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) or similar institution. Must hold or be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management and Collections.
- At least one year of experience in the administration of debt collection or a similar role.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with customers and clients in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- An ability to review systems and improve them.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.

**Salary**: £21,963.00-£25,995.00 per year
