The post provides an opportunity to work in a high-profile programme area with regular Ministerial and No.10 engagement. It offers a mixture of programme management, analytical and technical work coupled with significant outward facing exposure working with senior managers in other Government departments, Local Authorities, industry, and cycling and walking interest groups. Also, regular engagement with parliamentary business.

**Job description**:
Infrastructure investment is the biggest component of the suite of commitments set out in the Government’s long-term cycling and walking plan, published on 27 July 2020 and forms part of a wider programme of investment of around £3bn that aims to double cycling by 2025. The long-term vision is for half of all journeys in towns and cities to be walked or cycled by 2030, which will deliver substantial health, air quality, carbon, congestion and local growth benefits.

**Responsibilities**

Key accountabilities of the role include:

- Work as part of a team to develop and agree specific elements of the multi-year funding approach for around £500m of SR21 capital funding.
- Assist in the development and delivery of a detailed plan to manage the multi-year Local Authority funding round.
- Support development of new ATE delivery processes.
- Lead on managing the Cycle Rail programme comprising routes to stations and cycle parking, working with Sustrans and a range of rail stakeholders.
- Enable robust and timely decision making and challenge by senior management and Ministers on design and delivery of the multi-year funding round through relevant proposals to the ATE Executive Committee, ATE Investment Programme Board and various stakeholder engagement forums, via development and presentation of relevant evidence, papers and highlight reports.

**Additional Information**

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
