**Salary: £22,000-£26,000 gross per year**
**The Department**
The Purchasing Department supports the sales teams by sourcing electronic components, building relationships with suppliers and developing the supply chain. The department is responsible for managing contract review ensuring compliance to company and statuary requirements, placing, and expediting purchase orders and handling logistics queries. Working with the stores and quality teams, purchasing ensure non-conforming product is quarantined and managed appropriately.
**The position**
The role will support the sales and purchasing teams in sourcing, procurement, and consolidated bulk logistics management of electronic components. In a time-critical industry, the role will ensure enquiries, orders and shipments are arranged in a timely manner whilst maintaining cost effectiveness.
**The Role**
- Work with sales and purchasing teams to source and procure electronic components.
- Contract review of customer orders, placing of supplier orders and order progressing.
- Contact suppliers for quotes quickly and feed back to the sales and purchasing teams, including any required testing or logistics pricing.
- Build the supplier database and keep it up to date.
- Benchmark component & logistics suppliers to ensure competitive quotes and achieve cost saving and optimise freight costs whilst maintaining delivery timelines.
- Identify logistics requirements across multiple divisions and locations to improve efficiency and reduce stock transfers between sites.
- Consider best shipment methods, air, road, or sea and organise pallet collections or container shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of quotes, shipments, customs documents, and compliance related information.
- Communicate with all required internal departments as well as overseas warehouses, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure on time delivery to customers.
- Ensure compliance with all company processes, customer requirements and applicable laws and regulations both UK and of the import and export countries we work with.
- Work with accounts to ensure prompt payment of supplier Pro-forma invoices, validate supplier payment details and resolve invoice queries.
- Liaise with suppliers, logistics partners and the purchasing and warehouse teams to ensure accurate information and documentation requirements are identified prior to shipments being booked.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary permits, licences, and approvals and work with logistics partners, customers, and suppliers on customs clearance issues.
- Generate reports on supplier and logistics performance and propose improvements.
- Support the purchasing team with any other administration tasks and cover for team members during absences.
**Personal Attributes**
- Previous experience working in a supply chain role preferred.
- Experience of working in a company with multiple locations and overseas partners
- Conscientious and pro-active in your approach to work
- Strong team player and able to work on own initiative.
- Good organisational skills, time management and prioritisation of tasks
- Strong Negotiator with experience in benchmarking supplier quotes
- Analytical and able to research information accurately for smooth transition of goods.
- Effective verbal and written communication and skills
- Have a strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office, in particular Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with working with ERP systems preferred.
- Able to think laterally to maximise all opportunities and streamline process.
- Can work under pressure and react quickly to resolve issues in time critical situations.
