Coffee Shop Barista

We are looking for a Coffee Shop Barista to work in our new staff catering area within the hospital. In addition to serving high quality barista style coffee the role also involves some basic food preparation and cooking. High standards are expected to be maintained.

Experience of customer service and food handling is desirable.

Serving customers in an efficient and professional manner. Preparation of food and drinks, some cooking and cleaning duties are all part of this varied role. Working as part of team, you will work to deliver excellent quality food and drinks to our colleagues in our staff only area. Duties include maintaining a safe and hygienic environment, adhering to all health and safety legislation and following all due diligence policies.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. Responsible for the preparation of foodstuffs, general cleaning of equipment and areas within the Health & Wellbeing Centre and Responsible preparation and service of food to staff ,. The post holder will be required to operate in the central dish wash area. Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers. Packaging food and beverages for sale. Selling coffee and tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items, and educating customers about brewing methods. Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash and sanitizing equipment and utensils. Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality. Updating signage and displays to attract customers. Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter. Working as part of a fun, high-energy team. Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
