Senior Cemeteries Administrator £24,496 per annum
**Your new company**
A public sector organisation based in Belfast is looking to recruit for a Senior Cemeteries Administrator. This is a temporary role.
**Your new role**
As Senior Cemeteries Administrator, you will be responsible for the supervision of administrative staff within the office and site offices. You will assist with the development and supervision of a genealogical information service and cemetery records system.You will be required to respond to enquiries and complaints from the public and external representatives; providing practical advice and front-line customer support as required, in a sympathetic and dignified manner.
Main Responsibilities
- To deputise for the Administration Manager in times of absence, ensuring that the staff operate at all times within specified procedures and in accordance with health and safety guidelines and legislation
- To provide cover for offices as required
- To deal with counter and telephone enquiries in a tactful and sensitive manner
- To book, record and process statutory documentation for services
- To update and maintain both electronic and manual records
- To prepare lists of medical certificate notifications for registration purposes
- To accept payments for burials and memorialisations, prepare lodgements and to assist with the reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis
- To compile monthly accounts for funeral directors and monumental sculptors
- To accompany the Administration Manager to consultations and meetings
- To deputise for the Administration Manager in their absence in dealing directly with queries from members
- To liaise with Legal Services regarding a range of issues
- To validate and process refunds for Belfast and non-Belfast residents
- To motivate and manage any staff that may be assigned to ensure effective service delivery and to be responsible for reviewing and implementing a proper staff training and development programme
- To participate in all induction and in-service training and in the induction and support of all newly appointed staff and other human resource management policies and procedures, as appropriate, including, absence management, disciplinary and grievanceprocedure
- To participate as directed in the recruitment and selection procedures
- To act in accordance with the departmental policies and procedures including customer care, equal opportunities, health and safety, safeguarding and any pertinent legislation
- To undertake such other relevant duties as may from time to time be required.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Experience working in a professional bereavement services environment
- Experience undertaking administrative and cash handling duties and using information technology software such as Microsoft Office, or equivalent packages
- Experience supervising staff on a daily basis including programming workloads
- The ability to provide information, advice and guidance to the public and other members of staff and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- The ability to demonstrate a sound awareness of customer care procedures and deal with members of the public in a tactful and sensitive manner
- The ability to use a range of standard office packages and finance packages
- The ability to effectively plan and prioritise tasks to achieve team objectives
