Junior/trainee Accountant

We are working with an entrepreneurial accountancy firm which covers a wide range of services for a portfolio of clients. They have a reputation that everyone at the company has the opportunity to develop their technical skills across all services with themain aim of helping their clients achieve their dreams, and presenting the opportunities to their staff to eventually run their own accountancy firm, or stay and help run the office they are trained in.
They are now seeking a School/College leaver or graduate who is now looking to pursue a long-term career within the Accountancy sector. This is a real long-term career opportunity where you will be provided with all the necessary training and experienceto develop and eventually manage your own practice. You will also be fully supported in studying initially for the AAT and/or ACA qualifications.
You can’t train attitude. You can however train a process or educate someone in a technical aspect. Therefore they are seeking someone who possesses the attitude and desire to succeed.
As a junior accountant your day to day will initially involve, but not be limited to:
- Bookkeeping
- Payroll
- VAT preparation and filing
- Personal tax returns
- Talking to HMRC and clients directly
- Assisting with ad hoc requests from other members of the team for your own personal experience/development
Over time and with ongoing training, you will start to manage you own portfolio of clients where they would look to introduce and train you in the following processes:
- Company accounts;
- Corporation tax;
- Research and development grants;
- Other grants;
- EIS/ERS schemes;
- Management accounts;
- Ad hoc strategic advice for clients.
You will be a highly motivated and entrepreneurial person with the ability to build ongoing client relationships that focuses on trust and professionalism. Additionally, you will be someone who possessed analytical skills and have the ability to think critically,research and solve problems, coupled with a strong attention to detail.
The client is based in Epsom and offer flexible working split between working in the office and remotely during the week.
