Paediatric/camhs Crisis Mental Health Practitioner

Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities Utilise recent research findings in the advancement of best practice and in the delivery of an evidenced based service. To provide support and expert advice to colleagues involved in the care of patients with mental health needs and develop systems to ensure that this support is available in a range of ways. Monitor and evaluate the standards of care and take actions to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained. Disseminate relevant research via training and publication and advise others on the implications for practice of research findings.
Identify and be responsive to the diverse cultural, social and spiritual needs of all patients Promote general health education and specifically mental health education to the client group. Identify and intervene proactively in situations that contribute to an unsafe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Ensure the effective and efficient use of all hospital resources. Ensure that all duties are carried to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with the current quality initiatives within the work area.
Be aware of the responsibility to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Provide evidence based clinical interventions, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice. Being responsible for the development, planning and implementation of brief care and treatment interventions for individual children and young people. Ensure that individual episodes of care are delivered in a timely, effective and integrated manner.
Promote a recovery model that empowers patients, carers and relatives to be at the forefront of decision-making and ownership of their packages of care and treatment. Undertake clinical risk assessments, based on the latest empirical evidence and in compliance with local policies and procedures. Act as the advocate for patients and relatives. Enable patients and carers to manage disability, loss and change Champion patients rights, including: dignity, equality, diversity, choice and respect.
When undertaking all of the above ensure good documentation is provided and entered within the appropriate record systems. To be aware of own personal development needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal processes. To take on the duty role for the C-CAT team in rotation with other band 7 colleagues, chairing the daily duty calls and liaising with practitioners across the county. Occasional Travel to Hinchingbrooke Hospital may be required to carry out crisis assessments in the context of unplanned staffing shortages.
