An exciting opporunity has arisen for a Policy Officer for a role in Wokingham. The postholder will maintain accurate, up-to-date, and relevant policies for Adult Social Care in order to communicate to our customers what they can expect of us, and to communicateto our workforce what we expect of them. Horizon scanning and researching is a fundamental part of the role to maintain awareness and understanding of regulatory or legislative changes, advising, and coordinating the service-wide response.
As a service we aim to measure our success by challenging ourselves to look outwards, to learn from other local authorities and organisations, to engage with sector-led improvement initiatives, and actively seek feedback. This role will support us in achievingthis aim by coordinating the tasks and activities required for arranged peer challenges, collating information required for information requests from other Local Authorities and organisations and maintaining a high level of consultation and engagement withour customers by taking responsibility for managing the two statutory surveys for Adult Social Care.
**Main Accountabilities**:
Managing the process of collating and organising the internal policies relating to Adult Social Care, working with the relevant leads to ensure they are updated regularly and are readily available and accessible.
Lead for statutory surveys for Adult Social Care, managing the arrangements for undertaking the surveys, analysing the results, supporting associated action planning, and undertaking any other tasks required.
Horizon scanning of pressures, opportunities, and influences in Adult Social Care, considering how emerging trends and developments might potentially affect current policy and practice and communicating these to managers within the service.
Researching and understanding the political environment in order to support the continuous development of policy.
Supporting the Assurance Lead with organising and managing arrangements for assurance and inspection preparation.
Managing the information shared with Adult Social Care customers via leaflets, information sheets and the external website, liaising with the Communications, Engagement and Marketing Team as required, to ensure we share appropriate and relevant informationwith our customers that align to our policies and procedures.
Managing the arrangements for Adult Social Care peer challenge and reviews.
Identifying and collating responses to relevant consultations and requests for information received from other local authorities and organisations such as ADASS, taking responsibility for analysing the results and assessing the key messages to communicate tomanagers with Adult Social Care and other key stakeholders.
