Job overview

Nottingham Hearing Biomedical Research Centre aims to remain at the cutting edge of hearing research, by delivering high quality research and clinical studies in the NHS. We have a varied portfolio of research studies and clinical trials investigating hearing related treatments.

Main duties of the job

Assist in the efficient running of Hearing Research Studies in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines.

To actively contribute to developing Hearing clinical research practice.

Ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to research participants and, where relevant to their families, in partnership with all members of the multi-professional and research teams.

The exact dimensions of the numbers and types of studies may vary in accordance with the dynamic nature of the research programme; it is likely that the post holder will be required to manage several concurrent research studies.

We work with very closely with the University of Nottingham. Therefore must be able to support students and other professionals who have not worked in the NHS setting before, and help them navigate common NHS standards, protocols and procedures.

To look for opportunities to help develop and support the Hearing Research portfolio.

Promote and represent the Clinical Research Network and National Institute for Health and Care Research.

Knowledge, Experience, Training & QualificationsQualifications

Essential criteria
- Minimum BSc Audiology or equivalent
- Eligible to register as Clinical Physiologist or Clinical Scientist

Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of research methodologies

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, in order to undertake own job and inform work colleagues, external bodies, and various hospital departments
- Ability and experience of working as part of a team

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
- Ability to assess, evaluate and interpret clinical/non-clinical information and events against defined protocols in order determine the appropriate course of action

Planning and organisation skills

Essential criteria
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage a varied workload.

Other

Essential criteria
- Ability to sit at and use a computer for long periods.
- Ability to respond to tight deadlines by working hours as required.
- Flexibility to work with patients and staff at the CRN at times suitable for them, e.g. out of hours and on Saturdays.

Desirable criteria
- UK Driving licence and use of a vehicle
- Experience of organising and participating in events aimed at the general public and professionals

Patient/Client care

Desirable criteria
- Able to check patient eligibility against set criteria, follow procedures to randomise patients, and record protocol related investigations, treatments and visits in a timely and accurate manner
