We are fishing for a part time Aquatic sales assistant to help with the running of our Aquatic Department on a permanent contract.

Previous experience within the aquatics trade is not essential, however it is desirable. You certainly **MUST **have an interest in fish keeping and personal experience and interest in water gardening and/or indoor aquariums. You must have a flexible approach to work.

You will work four days a week, these days will be flexible and issued to you at least a month in advance. Hours of work are Monday to Saturday 9.00- 17:00 Hours and on Sundays are 10.00-16:00. you maybe asked to come in 15 minutes before the above times to do pre-opening checks.

Sunday hours are paid an enhanced rate so you take home the same on a Sunday as you would on a Saturday even though you work less hours.

**FULL JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Sales Assistant (based in the Aquatics Dept) is a team member whose duties / tasks include:

- Operating with integrity and honesty at all times - upholding the company’s values
- Working with the Aquatics Dept Manager (ADM) and the Aquatics Team to ensure the smooth running of the Aquatics Department.
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to achieve sales targets.
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to ensure that the Aquatics Dept, it’s immediate surroundings and storage areas are an organised, clean, tidy, safe and accessible environment for staff and customers at all times
- Working in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy as is applicable across the Garden and Aquatic centre.
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to ensure excellent livestock husbandry standards
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to ensure excellent aquatic plant husbandry standards
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to ensure the company’s Pet Licence and any other governing regulations are adhered to
- Administering fish treatments where applicable
- Handling of live fish at point of delivery and sale (inclusive of any fish fatalities)
- Regularly cleaning tanks, fountains and water garden displays
- Pricing stock and replenishing shelves as necessary
- Proactive selling of products to customers (add on sales)
- Responding appropriately and professionally to messages received via or aquatics facebook page
- Receiving and checking deliveries from suppliers
- Working with the ADM and the Aquatics Team to fulfil stock takes
- Ensuring products are merchandised to their fullest potential creating attractive, inspiring displays
- Operating the tills and handling money / payments on a daily basis (if training provided)
- Being a nominated First Aider at work (if required and if training is provided)
- Any other duties as requested by the ADM or other department manager.

On occasions when the department is quiet and well staffed you maybe asked to assist in another department such as the shop. Tasks will include using the till, keeping the store clean and tidy, pricing and displaying goods.

A flexible approach is therefore essential.

Pay: £8.60-£11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
