The post holder will be required to lead a team of grounds maintenance operatives and undertake a range of grounds maintenance tasks, including the use of ride-on and pedestrian controlled machines, powered hand tools and equipment throughout South Scotland.

Your new role:
**What you'll do**:

- Drive and operate a wide range of vehicles, plant and equipment including vehicle attached machinery, pedestrian and ride-on machinery and handheld equipment to maintain parks and open spaces to the required standards.
- Ensure and promote the correct use and operation of machinery and equipment and report any breakdowns to Grounds Maintenance Manager. Ensure that all daily routine safety and maintenance checks for vehicles, machinery and equipment are carried out. Ensure that all vehicles, machinery and equipment used is, kept clean and not exposed to the risk of damage or theft.
- Complete documents relating to the role of the post e.g. weekly/daily work records, vehicle/equipment defect reporting and client PPM schedules.
- Liaise with Client Representatives and Contract Managers ensuring positive constructive relationships based on good service delivery.
- Participate in the training and induction of employees.
- Undertake visual inspections of all work areas prior to commencement of maintenance tasks ensuring compliance with approved safety standards.
- To operate at all times with safe working practices with due regard to Health & Safety Regulations, COSHH, Environmental issues and Waste Disposal etc in accordance with legislative requirements and policies and procedures of RFM.
- Maintain an awareness of RFM’s Policies, Procedures and objectives related to the successful delivery of the Grounds Maintenance service.
- Work flexibly within the wider RFM team undertaking any other duties assigned by the Grounds Maintenance Manager in connection with RFM’s operational requirements.

**What you'll need**:

- The postholder will hold a professional vocational qualification in a Grounds Maintenance/Horticulture discipline or have equivalent experience.
- The postholder will have experience of supervising and undertaking grounds maintenance/horticulture duties including grass cutting within a professional environment. Experience in the delivery of amenity horticulture services or hard and soft landscaping would be desirable.
- The postholder will hold a full driving license and Certificates of competence in tractor driving, ride-on mowers, pedestrian mowers, brushcutters and hedgecutters.
- The postholder will hold a Certificate of competence for pesticides spraying.
- The postholder should have an understanding of tractors, mowing equipment and associated plant and their maintenance requirements.
