**Job description**

The Worshipful Company of Ironmongers (WCI) is one of the Great XII livery companies in the City of London. The history of the Company dates back over 700 years, with its roots in the iron trade.

The WCI is a membership organisation with approximately 400 members, which has been granted the Royal Charter and administers six charities, focused on the education of the young, the care of the elderly, metals and materials science.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Houseman will be joining the Facilities team to support smooth running of the Ironmongers Hall.

**Purpose**

The Houseman’s role will be covering the porter, security and general maintenance duties and is responsible for helping to ensure the safety, security, maintenance and cleanliness within the Ironmongers Hall.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Ø **Health and Safety**:

- Contribute to ensuring Health & Safety (including fire safety) compliance throughout the Hall.

Ø **Security**:

- General security and door supervisor duties

Ø **Facilities Management and Maintenance**:

- General Hall maintenance and cleaning
- Porter’s duties and events set up

Ø **General responsibilities**
- Other duties as required.

Working Hours:
Ø **Flexible Working Hours**:Shift work (7.5 hours per day) varies from week to week**:

- Routine: 7.5 hours between 08:00 and 18:00
- Early: 7.5 hours between 06:00 and 15:00
- Late: 7.5 hours between 14:00 and 23:59
- Weekend and out of hours duties as required.

Overtime or time off in lieu for any work outside normal shifts by arrangement.

Qualifications preferred (training provided as necessary):
Ø First Aid at work, Fire Marshall / Fire Warden, Manual Handling, Working at Height

Ø SIA - Door Supervisor

Ø DIY/ Handyman skills

Ø Basic IT skills

Ø Good communication skills

Ø Ability to work as part of a small team

**Terms and Conditions**
- Salary £27,000 per annum
- Annual leave 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays and Christmas close period
