Trainee Arborist

**Weekly Hours**: 8.30am-15.30pm

**Purpose of the role**:
To provide tree services for the 30,000 trees on Thamesmead in a safe manner which is customer oriented, high quality, responsive to the needs of the Association including external clients and in line with service standards.

Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Trainee Arborist on a permanent basis.

**Skills/Experience required**:
**Essential**:
Ability to work in all weathers in an outdoor environment

Ability to undertake physically demanding work at height

Ability to communicate in a clear and polite manner with colleagues and members of the public.
- Basic literacy skills desirable or ability to undertake training.
- **Desirable**:

- Current driving license (B+E)
- **As a Trainee Arborist, you will be required**:
To carry out tree pruning operations, including but not limited to: lifting, thinning, crown reduction, pollarding at heights in excess of 20 meters

To carry out tree felling and stump removal

To carry out cable bracing and tree support system activities

To carry out tree inspections

To safely use a wide variety of equipment and hand tools including but not limited to chainsaws / pole saws / hand tools / harness and ropes of all types.

To understand work requirements and work to deadlines.

To maintain knowledge of arboricultural practices, legislation, relevant legislation and codes of practice, and industry guidance.

To assist with on the job training as directed.

To ensure prompt and accurate completion of all forms and records required for the duties of the post.
- To follow Peabody’s Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure, as far as is practicable, your own safety and that of others in the workplace. You may be required to undertake specific Health and Safety roles such as Fire Warden or First Aider as part of your duties.
- This role will require a Basic DBS check, and a UK driver’s licence. _
