The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Research Programme Administrator to join the AGE Research Group, led by Professor Avan Aihie Sayer, Director of the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre and William Leech Professor of Geriatric Medicine.

You will work with, and under the direction of, the ADMISSION Research Programme Manager to support the effective delivery of the ADMISSION programme, and the AGE Resources Manager to support other AGE research. You will provide administrative support for a diverse range of activities, such as organising internal and external meetings and events, monitoring budgets and collating information for the preparation of reports. You will work closely with a range of researchers, both in Newcastle and across the other collaborating centres.

You will have relevant academic or vocational qualifications and administrative experience.

Key Accountabilities
- Support the Research Programme Manager in acting as the main point of contact for ADMISSION researchers
- Support the AGE Resources Manager with administrative tasks related to AGE Research projects, events, and other activities
- Support the establishment and maintenance of administrative systems to support the smooth-running of the ADMISSION programme to meet time and budget targets
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with members of the AGE team in Newcastle, and across centres, to maximise communication
- Assist with organising core group, Programme Management and other related meetings for ADMISSION, both remote and in-person
- Assist with organising agendas and draft minutes for these meetings and circulation to group members
- Assist with travel arrangements for ADMISSION Collaborative and other related meetings
- Provide purchasing support for the ADMISSION Collaborative and AGE Research Group
- Maintain and update the AGE and ADMISSION websites, including liaising with researchers to obtain content for news and other items
- Support AGE communications plans, including co-ordination of material for promotion on the websites and via social media
- Assist with preparation of publications, including communication with co-authors, journal formatting requirements and correspondence
- Organise relevant seminars, public engagement events and talks related to AGE research
- Undertake other similar duties as required by your line manager and AGE Research Group Lead

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience in assisting with project management, including working with information management systems
- Experience of working with databases
- Excellent IT skills, including competent use of Microsoft Office software
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate with staff at all levels
- Willingness to contribute to health research
- High levels of literacy and numeracy, with excellent attention to detail
- Experience of working with websites and social media
- Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
- Experience of providing effective administrative support to teams, such as. booking travel, taking minutes and arranging meetings

**Qualifications**:

- Educated to A-level or equivalent plus relevant work experience
