**Contract length**: Permanent

**Salary**: £25,000-£27,000 pa FTE

**Interviews**: week commencing 23 January 2023

**Why we are here**

Brake is the national charity tackling one of the world's most urgent humanitarian catastrophes - deaths and injuries on roads - and one of the leading causes of climate emergency - air pollution from traffic.

Brake's vision is that everyone can get around in safe and healthy ways. Yet every day, five people die and many more are seriously injured on UK roads and many of us breathe poisonous air in our communities. The United Nations has a goal of 50 per cent reduction in deaths and serious injuries on roads by 2030 - help us get there.

**What we do**

Brake has a 27-year reputation for evidenced campaigning for change, and getting that change; we advise government on road safety policy and the support needs of road victims. We engage employers and communities to take action in their organisations and where they live. We deliver the UK's National Road Victim Service; helping thousands of bereaved and injured families through shock and devastation. We fundraise tirelessly across our work so we can campaign more and support victims more.

**Who you are, and what you will do**

Brake is seeking an ambitious and talented person to join our campaigns team. Our campaigns for safe and healthy mobility are driven by high-quality, evidence-based research to ensure our messaging is always accurate, up to date, and supports the Safe System approach to road safety and best practice in road victim care. Our campaigns have broad public appeal and reach a wide audience.

As research writer you will play a vital role in shaping our campaigns, and creating content to help people understand our cause and take action to support road safety.
