The Transportation and Infrastructure Research Group within the School of Architecture and the Built Environment at the University of Wolverhampton is looking for an individual to lead research and development activities as part of the SOTERIA Horizon Europe EU-funded project.

This is a full time temporary post until April 2026.

The SOTERIA (Systematic and orchestrated deployment of safety solutions in complex urban environments for ageing and vulnerable societies) project will supply a holistic framework of innovative models, tools and services enabling data driven urban safety intelligence, facilitating safe travelling of Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) and fostering the safe integration of micro-mobility services in complex environments.

**The Opportunity**:
You will have the opportunity to work on an exciting multidisciplinary project funded as part of the Horizon Europe programme. You will be responsible for the development of innovative solutions that will enable safe travelling of Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) in complex urban environment. The developed solutions will be deployed and tested in 4 pilot demonstration sites across different European countries.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Evidence of leading substantial parts of collaborative research projects within host and external Higher Education Institutions and/or public/private sector.
- Technical knowledge, or willingness to develop expertise in transportation safety systems, transport modelling and simulation tools, sensory technologies and embedded systems.
- Experience in programming and development of fully functional software systems running in operational environments.
- Experience of contribution to the securing of funding for research projects from external sources.
- Evidence of dissemination of research results through a developing portfolio of publications in high impact peer reviewed research journals, or equivalent, relevant to the field and presentation at national and international conferences.
